The OC Throwdown was the first local competition in Southern California to contest the Sport of Fitness. Our goal is to provide our local athletes with an avenue to showcase their skills and fitness levels. The first annual Throwdown was contested in January 2010. With over 125 competing athletes and 400 paid spectators from all over the Orange County, CA area, the first annual OC Throwdown, was a thrilling experience for everyone. Due to a groundswell of interest, what started as a small local affair arranged to have some fun and friendly competition between nearby clubs, morphed into a major competition, drawing high quality competitors from more than 20 boxes throughout the Southern California, and as far as Nevada and Sacramento.
4 diverse, torturous WODs, selected by James “OPT” Fitzgerald, were held over January 9th and 10th. With equipment loaned by participating clubs, a pull-up rack shipped in by Rogue Fitness and a 12,000 square foot warehouse complete with sound system, DJ, Videographers and photographers, the weekend came off with near military precision.
In the Mens Rx Division Max Fernandez, owner of CrossFit South County came out on top. Second place was taken by Ronnie Teasdale of CrossFit Mean Streets. In the Womens Rx Division Kelly Urbani of CrossFit Balboa took first place, with Janece Katona of CrossFit Next Level Performance in Second. 2010 OC THROWDOWN FINAL RESULTS
2011 saw an even BIGGER and MEANER event drawing close to 1,000 spectators and over 275 athletes from all over the United States. After two grueling days, 6 work outs (7 for a few), and umpteen hours screaming and cheering our heads off…we found the fittest men and women in Orange County. In the Mens Rx Division we saw a tie between Ronnie Teasdale and Ben Hopkins. Teasdale pulled out the win in a close tiebreaker that saw each competitor race to complete 20 Muscle Ups. For the women Beth Guse edged out Sarah Rodriguez for the overall title. 2011 OC THROWDOWN FINAL RESULTS
The 2012 OC Throwdown presented by Life AsRx is HERE! We are going into our 3rd year of throwing down the LARGEST independent XFit comp in Southern California. For the first time we ran an online qualifier. OVER 1,100 CROSSFITTERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY REGISTERED FOR THE QUALIFIER. For 3 weeks a new workout was released on Sunday evening. Athletes had one week to complete the workout and log their times on this website. From 1,100 we narrowed the field down to just the top 150 men and top 100 women. This year promises to be even bigger and better. A 40,000 sqft professional indoor venue, top Games and Regional competitors, and a $5,000 cash purse.
As in previous years the OC Throwdown is a 2 DAY event. The workouts will be varied and constitute a thorough test of an individuals fitness. In other words, expect to be SERIOUSLY tested both physically and mentally. Soreness and exhaustion are to be expected. Bruised egos, and torn hands are a good possibility. After all, THIS IS CROSSFIT! The CHAMPIONS of the 2012 OC Throwdown will certainly lay claim to the title of THE FITTEST IN SOCAL.
The venue will once again be INDOORS as we feel that this provides the most INTENSE and DRAMATIC atmosphere for a XFit competition. As in past years, the location will be kept a secret until the day before the event. We will post the location on this site as well as on octhrowdown.com the day before the event.

THE 2014 OC THROWDOWN–BEST IS YET TO COME.
With the new season quickly approaching we are looking forward to having some of the best athletes in the world
competing for OC Throwdown Champion. Last year Kenny Leverich and Lindsey Valenzula, both claimed that title.
Both have informed us that they are looking to reclaim that title once again.
